[ music ] >> well, not a bad start to the holiday weekend. guess what, it gets even better. take a look at the current temperatures right now. 72 degrees at national airport. 64 at baltimore. 65 degrees at dulles. plenty of clear skies. a nice ridge of high pressure responsible for that. that's what's going to continue. we will see plenty of sunshine. low dew points and that means no humidity to deal with. that ridge of high pressure will slide off the coast as we head into tomorrow. temperatures a little cooler than they have been for the holiday weekend but plenty of bright skies for you. if you are heading to the beaches, lots of sunshine there as well. temperatures into the upper 70s and the low 80s pretty much everywhere

for joining us tonight. i'm will thomas. >> and i'm maureen umeh. the storm is no longer a threat to the u.s. and as fox's jennifer davis reports, people on the cape are breathing a huge sigh of relief. >> reporter: cape cod did take hurricane earl seriously. but the storm was barely here before it was again. and now folks say it is time to enjoy the last holiday weekend of the summer. billed as a lion, earl came more like a lamb. he allowed nathan to sleep peacefully through the night. >> he was 0 okay. >> reporter: with the storm approaching many held off on holiday plans, either hanging out or hunkering down. with earl's grey skies turning as blue as these bride maids dresses this young couple's worries went away with earl's departure from cape cod. >> sunny and beautiful and the breeze is great and couldn't ask for anything better. >> very nice. >> reporter: were you worried yesterday? >> very. but hey, there is nothing you can do. you go with the cards that are dealt to you. >> reporter: bridegroom and wedding party rode off to their reception. while business owners and inn keepers st

for joining us tonight. i'm maureen umeh. >> and i'm will thomas. working the campaign trail at the festival when the pitbull started tangling with a poodle. police on the scene responded. karen grey houston was on the scene as it all unfolded and brings us the account of what happened out there. >> reporter: it was an orderly festival, full of people, dogs, music, food and crafts. up until two dogs, this poodle seen here with its owner, and a pitbull got into it. >> two dogs were passing by and suddenly they jump up to each other. they were fighting. >> this is the distraught owner of the pitbull who was killed. eyewitnesses say the pitbull was the aggressor. >> the pitbull started biting the owner of the dog and her bystander that was there with her. started biting them. >> bystanders tried to separate the dogs. one of them, this man, says he was bitten by the pooled. and then police got involved. >> the one issue that does not appear to be in dispute is that a police officer pulled out his weapon out here and shot and killed the dog. how and why it happened depends on whom you ask. >> thi
